Iepe Rubingh

Iepe B. T. Rubingh (born 17 August 1974, Rotterdam) is a Dutch performance artist whose oeuvre includes blocking off intersections in Berlin and Tokyo to create monster traffic jams. He was jailed for 10 days for his Japanese "art".

Rubingh founded chess boxing in 2003 after drawing inspiration from Enki Bilal's comi book Froid Équateur. He won the inaugural World Chessboxing Championship in Amsterdam in 2003 and currently serves as the prime mover and master spokesperson of this new sport. He is the current president of the World Chess Boxing Organisation.
